Colorful Spring Wedding Inspiration at The Halifax Club

Imagine an elegant wedding in a picturesque historic building in Halifax, complete with taper candles, gorgeous flowers, an elegant tablescape…and disco balls!

It’s no secret that The Halifax Club is a great Nova Scotia wedding venue. The original architecture of the building is so beautiful, and has been wonderfully restored and refurbished in recent years to showcase the building’s best qualities. The building has survived a lot of history over the decades, including the Halifax explosion.

I collaborated on this fun styled photo shoot with Meaghan MacDonald at The Halifax Club – we brainstormed together and curated a dream team of wedding vendors to achieve our vision – a bright and colourful spring wedding with a few retro elements.

If you’re on the fence about incorporating color into your wedding day, let these photos provide some inspiration! Bold, bright colors are so striking and can truly look amazing at weddings. Stand out from the sea of blush pinks and neutrals that are everywhere in the wedding world and go for something more unique – such as the color palette we used for this shoot – spring greens, a variety of purple hues, burgundy, and a bright mustard yellow.

Flourish Floral Designs worked her magic and made all of our vibrant spring floral dreams come true. It was so fun to incorporate a bright, cheerful colour palette into everything! And I absolutely love the invitation suite from Lupin Design Studio with its fun lettering, funky shapes, and bright yellow envelope.

Even though this was styled photo shoot, our model couple was a real Halifax couple who got married a few months later. They were planning their own wedding and excited to get married – you can just feel the love in their portraits!

We even had them do a real ‘first look’ to start off the photo shoot – it was so fun to see their real reactions!

The groom wore a custom blue suit from Johnny Custom, light brown dress shoes, and a paisley tie to bring it the whole look together, along with a beautiful boutonniere by Flourish Floral Designs.

The bride wore the Chloe gown by RISH Bridal from the bridal boutique Yours, by E. It was the perfect silhouette and the detail on the lace is just unreal! The Chloe gown is a little bit bohemian, botanical, elegant, and romantic all at the same time.

Meaghan Porter did the elegant updo hairstyle, and the bride’s beautiful makeup was done by Janine Gerrits Makeup. The Bella Flower and Drop Pearl Earrings from Miss Foxine completed the bridal look!

I can’t get over the ceremony setup, with gorgeous florals by Flourish Floral Designs, disco balls, and tons of candles for a romantic feel. And seriously, how cute are the bride and groom walking back up the aisle?!

The intimate dinner table looked so stunning in front of the large rounded windows overlooking Hollis Street. The menus and place cards, created by Lupin Design Studio, combined bright spring colours with fun modern shapes. They looked perfect along with the mini disco balls at each place setting!

MacFarlands Events provided such a beautiful setup, from the table and chairs to dishes, glassware, and linens. I absolutely love the coupe glasses we used for cocktails as a part of each place setting.

To top it all off, we added modern touches with vases, candleholders, and lilac and burgundy taper candles from Props Floral Design.

The bar was stocked with Compass Distillers Gin Royal for the perfect lavender-hued cocktail, topped with edible flowers. How cute is the sign by Lupin Design Studio?!

The wedding cake, designed by the amazing Temi Bakes, was beautiful and absolutely delicious. Temi might make the tastiest cakes in this city, honestly!

The Halifax Club makes a great backdrop for outdoor photos with its beautiful wooden door, stone steps, and neutral walls. We had fun walking down Hollis Street taking a few more shots before calling it a day!
