Elegant Summer Wedding at Lightfoot & Wolfville Vineyards

Allison and Cory got married on a sunny August day at one of their favorite wineries – Lightfoot & Wolfville Vineyards. Having been together for over 13 years, these two really wanted to have the wedding celebration of their dreams, and I’m so glad they chose me to be a part of it!

It was a hot and humid day in the Annapolis Valley, but everyone was a good sport when it came to the weather and staying outside for photos. I worked as efficiently as possible, so that we could all head back inside after each photo portion to enjoy the air conditioning and refreshing drinks that the fabulous Lightfoot staff was always ready to offer.

Despite the heat, it was a truly gorgeous day, with clear blue skies and beautiful light — a perfect day for taking photos at one of my favorite venues in the valley!

The wedding day was coordinated by Stephanie Brown of Sky’s The Limit Weddings & Events, one of the first vendors I connected with when I moved to Halifax. Stephanie is a joy to work with — she keeps things running smoothly, is supportive of vendors, and does a wonderful job bringing her clients’ vision to life. I love working alongside Stephanie!

Allison and her bridesmaids got ready for the day in the loft, which overlooks Lightfoot’s terrace and vineyards. The Lightfoot bubbly was flowing as the girls got ready together. One particularly sweet moment was the first look Allison had with her dad, as her mom looked on, shedding a few tears. It’s always so special to be a witness to these moments!

After getting ready, Allison and Cory chose to do a first look, including exchanging personal vows with each other. I chose a space under a big tree for some shade — to keep us all a little cooler and for some pretty light.

The first look was a sweet time together before the day got busy with everything else. Exchanging their vows during their first look allowed them to have this moment privately, not in front of a crowd!

The outdoor ceremony location at Lightfoot & Wolfville is wide and expansive, overlooking the vineyards with a picturesque view of the Minas Basin, an inlet of the Bay of Fundy. Chilled sparkling wine was served to the guests as they arrived to the ceremony site — a welcome way to cool down on that sunny afternoon.

Justice of the Peace Nancy Cameron was a great officiant, and the talented Lisa Telling of Flourish Floral Design created the loveliest floral arrangements for the arbor and wine barrels. Her work is stunning!

The delicious dinner was served family-style in the barrel cellar, where guests were seated at one long row of farm tables. The signage and table numbers were created by Lupin Design Studio, and the cellar was decorated with more beautiful blooms from Flourish Floral Design.

After dinner, while guests were still mingling in the barrel cellar, I took Allison and Cory outside for a few more portraits. It had turned into a lovely summer evening as the sun was setting, and the vineyards made for the most beautiful background for the happy couple.

In addition to getting a few more photos, it was a nice breather for the two of them to just be together and enjoy the evening before the night carried on.

These are usually my favorite photos from wedding days — when all the formalities of the day are over and couples are more relaxed, at ease, and just soaking in that just-married feeling!

The party moved from the barrel cellar to Lightfoot’s stunning sailcloth tent, where the couple shared their first dance and everyone enjoyed live music by Geoff Kennedy. Sky’s The Limit outfitted the tent with a ton of beautiful string lights
