As a Halifax wedding photographer, one of my favourite parts of my job is noticing the intentional detail couples put into their wedding day. Victoria and Florent’s wedding at Oceanstone Resort, overlooking St. Margaret’s Bay, was no exception! There were so many thoughtful details woven throughout their day to tell their love story.
Though I was eight months pregnant with my daughter during this wedding, I was so happy I was able to be there! I had a strong team, with Jacqueline Anne Photography second-shooting and Kat Mason Photography assisting me. I was confident that – should I unexpectedly go into labour or have any other issues – Jacqueline and Kat could take over! But luckily, I was high-energy all day and able to capture the beautiful details that made Victoria and Florent’s wedding day so memorable.
Wedding Weekend on St. Margaret’s Bay
Victoria and Florent chose to get married at Oceanstone Seaside Resort for so many reasons. Being in nature is a cornerstone of their relationship, so an outdoor venue was a must! Oceanstone Resort has a beach that leads right to St. Margaret’s Bay, allowing them to have a constant view of the water during their special day.
But the real selling point for Victoria and Florent was the ability to rent out the entire resort for a weekend – this way, they could celebrate and actually spend quality with all of their guests that weekend without needing to book multiple locations and juggle travel logistics.
As a photographer, I was more than happy to be back at Oceanstone Resort. You just can’t beat the ocean views and there are so many beautiful places for photos on site. Plus, the staff is always so helpful and welcoming!
Thoughtful Details and Stunning Yellow Floral Design
The resort is classically beautiful, with timeless architecture and the ocean sparkling in the background. However, the details truly set this wedding apart. Every detail showed me how in love Victoria and Florent were. From Florent’s bee-shaped cufflinks (a gift from Victoria), representing how they met on Bumble, to the bride and groom’s hand-painted dinner plates.
Far Out Floral blew me away with the golden yellow floral arrangements spread throughout the venue. Victoria’s daffodil bouquet perfectly complemented her maid of honor’s dress. And the green grapes and limes mixed into the tablescape brought out the deep green of Florent’s suit!
The bride and groom went above and beyond to make their wedding weekend an enjoyable experience for their guests. They hand-wrote each guest a card, which doubled as their table number. They also had a beautifully choreographed first dance, which left everyone speechless. The couple incorporated oysters (one of their favourite foods!) in their cocktail hour, played a hysterical shoe game with their friends and family, and chose to have a “cake” made of many different kinds of cheese from Ratinaud Charcuterie & French Cuisine.
Nova Scotia Wedding Photography
I cannot get over the incredible thought and effort that went into creating this wedding. I was so happy to be part of it and capture Victoria and Florent’s memories for them! As photography enthusiasts, the couple was excited to have photos that captured the emotion of the day, rather than a perfectly posed photoshoot. They also specifically love film photography, so I was excited to capture a lot of their day on film.
Victoria and Florent’s day was so full of love, laughter, and intentionality. I was honoured to be their wedding photographer and I cannot wait to see how their joy grows in the coming years!
